On Thursday night the draw for the 25th Metropolitan Cup was held in Cape Town, with seven PSL affiliated teams set to take part in the tournament.
The event is the biggest youth tournament in the country and consists of 32 teams overall, who battle it out over the space of a week in an attempt to be crowned Metropolitan Cup champions.
Last season’s tournament saw Chippa United’s then Vodacom league side, Philippi United, take the title, however there will be a new name on the trophy this time around with last year’s winners not taking part.
Philippi beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the final of the last tournament, while 2011 saw Namibian side, Komesho, take the title with SuperSport United winning the year before.
This year’s tournament will take place at Erica Park in Cape Town, between the 27th March and April the 1st.
