SuperSport United were crowned 2016 Metropolitan Cup champions after beating Ajax Cape Town 1-0 in the final at Erica Park.
The first half proved to be a cagey affair, as both sides struggled to create openings in the respective final thirds.
Fagrie Lakay seemed to be SuperSport's best attacking outlet down the flanks, while the Urban Warriors were restricted to long range efforts.
Ajax nearly took the lead after 29 minutes as Leo Thethani's cross found Godfrey Pelston, who's header crashed against the upright.
Both sides pushed for an opener in the remaining stages of the first half, but it remained goalless at the break.
However, SuperSport broke the deadlock shortly after the break courtesy of fine first-time volley from Nelson Maluleke, after some good work by Lakay.
Lakay nearly doubled their advantage in the 71st minute, the forward did well to evade two defenders, before seeing his close range effort saved by Johnson.
Nonetheless, SuperSport managed to see out the remaining nine minutes to secure the win and the Bayhill trophy.
