With just over a month left to go before the 2020/21 Premier Soccer League season comes to an end, Soccer Laduma takes a look at the 10 most valuable players in the league who will see their contracts expiring at the end of June.
At this point of the season, most clubs would have concluded their business, particularly when it comes to players who are out of contract at the end of the campaign, however, the unique nature of the current season, meant that teams are leaving it quite late before deciding the futures of their players.
This means that a number of big players like Kaizer Chiefs ace Khama Billiat, find themselves in a situation where they are eligible to sign pre-contracts elsewhere, but at the same time could stay on with the clubs due to the options they have in their respective contracts.
The 30-year-old Zimbabwean has a one-year option on his contract with Amakhosi, with indications that the club are likely to exercise the option in the coming days, as reported by the Siya crew.
According to Transfermarkt, Billiat has a market value of (R25.6m), making him not only the most valuable player in the DStv Premiership - but also the most valuable player with a contract coming to an end in June.
Billiat is not the only player that will see his deal expire in June. Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Lyle Lakay who has a market value of (R12.8m), is another who will be out of contract next month, but like Billiat, is likely to have his option exercised given his contribution in Sundowns colours since making the switch from Cape Town City three seasons ago.
There are a number of other players like Bongi Ntuli and Rivaldo Coetzee who will see their contracts come to an end next month.
