Going into this weekend, the action continues both on the local and international football scene.
Orlando Pirates travel away to Limpopo as they face Baroka FC. The Buccaneers let slip a 2-0 lead in their midweek encounter against Cape Town City, walking away with a point in a 2-all draw. However, this weekend they will be looking to bounce back and secure all three points on offer, while at FNB stadium, Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to land their third win in a row against AmaZulu.
This week retired South African footballer, Ntokozo Sikhakhane gives his predictions on the following matches. Do you agree with his choices?
Match of the Week
Baroka FC v Orlando Pirates (Premier Soccer League)
Match 1 Soccer 6 Pool 21 Sept S6 V3
League Rankings: Baroka FC 13th & Orlando Pirates 3rd (Premier Soccer League)
Useful facts: The Buccaneers, whose inconsistency has been their biggest let down in recent times, will have taken a lot of positives from last weekend’s display against SuperSport United and a win away to Bakgaga will do a lot to instil the belief that they have what it takes to go on and win silverware this season. Milutin Sredojevic will again look to Vincent Pule to lead the team to victory. For the Limpopo outfit, the mission will be to bounce back after they suffered a disappointing defeat to Chippa United last weekend, conceding in the last minutes. The last time the two sides met, in January this year, Bucs ran out 3-1 winners.
Ntokozo Sikhakhane: Pirates win
Kaizer Chiefs v AmaZulu (Premier Soccer League)
Match 3 Soccer 6 Pool 21 Sept S6 V3
League Rankings: Kaizer Chiefs 5th & AmaZulu 8th
Useful facts: Judging by the two teams’ results in the previous round of league games, this promises to be an entertaining game, with goals aplenty. Amakhosi put four past Cape Town City last Saturday, while Usuthu bulged the net three times against Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday. The Soweto giants’ somewhat shaky defence will be put to the test, while Giovanni Solinas will hoping that Khama Billiat will continue with his good form on the other side of the field. AmaZulu will be aware that a loss at FNB Stadium could see them sliding further down the standings, while Chiefs won’t want to be far off the likes of Bidvest Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic in the league standings. The last time the two teams did battle, in March this year, the game ended in a goalless draw.
Ntokozo Sikhakhane: Chiefs win
Real Madrid v Espanyol(LaLiga)
Match 6 Soccer 6 Pool 21 Sept S6 V3
League Rankings: Real Madrid 2nd & Espanyol 6th (La Liga)
Useful facts: Los Blancos have started the season well, despite losing the services of Cristiano Ronaldo, having won three and drawn one so far. Espanyol are not doing bad themselves, having won two, drawn one and lost one. Duels between the two sides are often closely-contested affairs and the visitors will certainly be no pushovers. In the last game between the two teams, Espanyol pulled off a 1-0 win, in February.
