Chiefs Seek To Outshine The Citizens, While Bucs Out For Revenge Against SSU!

On Saturday, September 15, Cape Town City host Kaizer Chiefs in a match that headlines this weekend’s ABSA Premiership encounters. The Citizens will be hoping to continue ensuring that Cape Town stadium is a slaughterhouse for any visiting team. While, on the other hand, Amakhosi are desperately looking to turn the corner and add three points into their bag.

For Orlando Pirates, the Buccaneers will be out for revenge after SuperSport United knocked them out of the MTN8 tournament. To see who former Pirates midfielder, Innocent Chikoya pitted to walk away with a win, check his predictions below.

Match of the Week

Cape Town City v Kaizer Chiefs (Premier Soccer League)

Match 2 Soccer 10 Pool 14 Sept S10 V3

League Rankings: Cape Town City 7th & Kaizer Chiefs 13th

Useful facts: Kaizer Chiefs return to the Cape for the first time since their 2-0 defeat of Ajax Cape Town in the last game of the 2017/18 campaign and will hope for a repeat of that performance in order to ease their woes of the current season. Four draws and one loss in five league games so far reads like a horror story for Giovanni Solinas’ charges, but in Cape Town City, they are up against stubborn opponents who will want to dominate and claim a big scalp on home turf. The last time the two sides met, Amakhosi inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Benni McCarthy’s men, in February this year.

Innocent Chikoya: Draw

Chippa United v Baroka FC (Premier Soccer League)

Match 1 Soccer 10 Pool 14 Sept S10 V3

League Rankings: Chippa United 16th & Baroka FC 10th

Useful facts: The signings made by Chippa United at the beginning of the season were a signal of intent, or so everyone thought, but this season has not gone according to the script for the lads from the Windy City. They sit at the bottom of the log standings and, in Eric Tinkler’s second game in charge, will be out to overcome Baroka FC in front of a home crowd. The former SuperSport United coach will be aware that defeat, which would be his second in as many games, would have a trigger-happy chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi, sitting uneasily. Expect Bakgaga to come out guns blazing in their efforts to move up the table as early in the season as possible, as they did last season. The two teams played out to a goalless draw in their last meeting, which was in the second round of 2017/18.

Innocent Chikoya: Chippa win

Orlando Pirates v SuperSport United (Premier Soccer League)

Match 9 Soccer 10 Pool 14 Sept S10 V3

League Rankings: Orlando Pirates 4th & SuperSport United 3rd

Useful facts:  There is no love lost between the two teams and no doubt after SuperSport United bundled them out of the MTN8 via a penalty shootout recently, Orlando Pirates will be out for revenge. Just as well, Bucs are on a high, after registering a morale-boosting victory against Black Leopards before the FIFA international break. Matsatsantsa a Pitori will also want to keep the momentum going after qualifying for the final of the MTN8 after beating another giant in Kaizer Chiefs. This game has goals in it, but it remains to be seen who will walk away with the precious three points.

Innocent Chikoya: Pirates win
