The match officials appointed for Kaizer Chiefs’ penultimate CAF Champions League group stage clash against Wydad Casablanca have been revealed.
It’s an all Egyptian team led by referee Ibrahim Nour El Din, who will be assisted by his compatriots Mahmoud Ahmed and Youssef Wahid as well as fourth official Mahmoud Elbana – the match commissioner is Shilunga Eratsus from Namibia.
Chiefs host a Wydad side that has already qualified given that the Morocco outfit have collected 10 points from four matches and are simply just looking to finish top of the group to avoid having to potentially face the other big guns in the quarterfinals.
But Amakhosi desperately need to win to keep their hopes alive ahead of travelling to Conakry, Guinea to take on Horoya AC next month.
This is Chiefs’ first game back since the international break and it will be played at FNB Stadium on Saturday at 6pm.
Dr Thulani Ngwenya has again been appointed Covid-19 compliance officer, a crucial role in football these days because of the global pandemic.
Chiefs will be cautious in their approach against Wydad – they were humbled 4-0 some four weeks ago when the two sides met in a rescheduled match played in Burkina Faso, a neutral venue after Amakhosi were initially denied entry into Morocco.
