Wisdom Mathebula, who reached the semi-finals with his side, University of Johannesburg, will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Wits University’s Matthew Carelse, who went on to land a professional contract for his efforts.
According to Siya sources, Mathebula has been invited to train with Chippa United in the near future, with Eric Tinkler looking to take a closer look at the left back after being impressed with his performances in the Varsity competition.
Chippa have had a tough start to the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season in recent weeks, and maybe 24-year-old Mathebula could be seen as a player who could come in to make a difference for the Chilli Boys.
Meanwhile, his teammate, Tebogo Mandyu, is still trying to leave a mark on Gavin Hunt at Bidvest Wits as he also looks to try and go pro this year after helping his side into the last four.
