Will Gordinho Return To Chiefs?
Will Lorenzo Gordinho Return To Kaizer Chiefs?
A decision about Lorenzo Gordinho’s immediate future at Kaizer Chiefs will be made once the player returns to the club in January and Soccer Laduma takes a look at what possibly lies ahead for the player.
Gordinho, who was eager to get regular game-time, completed a loan move to Bloemfontein Celtic in the January transfer window, where he is set to complete a one-year loan stint with Siwelele.
The 23-year-old will make his return to Amakhosi in January next year, although, the player’s future may be determined by the circumstances at Chiefs in the coming months.
With the player sent out on loan, it was clear that he is no longer in Head Coach Steve Komphela’s plans at Chiefs, falling below the likes of Daniel Cardoso and Siyabonga Ngezana on the pecking order. Should Komphela still be in charge at the helm of Amakhosi when Gordinho returns, there is little possibility that the player will see regular game-time.
However, there are several Premier Soccer League outfits that have shown interest in the player, which could be an alternative route, should his fortunes with Amakhosi remain unchanged.
Cape Town City:
As previously reported by the crew, sources have revealed that Head Coach Benni McCarthy is an admirer of the player’s trade, with the Citizens showing keen interest to add Gordinho as Robyn Johannes’ replacement.
The crew reported that Wits have been showing interest in both Gordinho and his Chiefs teammate, Daniel Cardoso, with a view of potentially intensifying their interest in either player.
Ajax Cape Town:
It was reported some time back that Chiefs were considering involving Lorenzo Gordinho in a swap deal to land Mosa Lebusa from the Urban Warriors.
With that being said, football is always unpredictable and it remains to be seen whether Gordinho ha a future at Amakhosi, or make the move elsewhere when his loan stint with Celtic comes to an end in January next year.
