Mamelodi Sundowns are close to agreeing to a deal for Lameck Banda, but it could be a long time before the Zambian dons the Ka Bo Yellow colours.
As reported by the Siya crew today, Masandawana are close to concluding a deal to sign the striker, however, due to the Brazilians exhausted foreign quota, it may be a while before Banda will be able to play for the club.
According to Siya sources, it could take up until next season before Banda can play for Sundowns as the Brazilians will need to free up a spot on their foreign quota in order to register the player.
Sources have added that Masandawana will look to make several additions to their squad in the upcoming January transfer window and should Head Coach Pitso Mosimane look to add more foreigners to their books, the club could be facing a registration headache next month.
As things stand, Leonardo Castro is the only foreigner heading out the door in the upcoming January transfer window, with indications that Ricardo Nascimento could be taking the Colombian’s foreign spot, after the Siya crew had it confirmed that the Brazilian made his return to the club.
This means that Banda could be waiting until next season before the club can register the player to play, as Sundowns might want to hold on to the rest of their foreign contingent, made up of Soumahoro Bangaly, Yannick Zakri, Brimah Razak and Fares Hachi.
However, football is unpredictable and it remains to be seen whether there will be more than one foreigner exiting the club in the upcoming January transfer window.
