Who Took Chiefs’ First Post-Komphela Training Session?

Who Took Chiefs’ First Post-Komphela Training Session?

By Soccer Laduma - Apr 22, 2018 12:40 PM
Kaizer Chiefs announced last night that Steve Komphela had resigned with immediate effect, leaving them without a head coach for the last three games.

There were disastrous scenes at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night as supporters invaded the field following Chiefs’ 2-0 defeat at the hands of Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semifinal.

Brutal footage of violence taking place on the field has since surfaced, while millions of rands worth of damage has reportedly been done to the stadium and equipment by the field of play.

The Amakhosi’s team manager, Bobby Motaung, revealed after the game in a press conference that Komphela would not be continuing, leaving questions about who will take over for the encounters with Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United and Ajax Cape Town.

Siya sources have revealed that assistant coach, Patrick Mabedi, took Chiefs’ training session on Sunday morning in the aftermath of their cup exit, but it remains to be seen whether he will be given the role on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Putting Mabedi in charge would be the logical step given the small amount of games left, with the club’s management then having the entire offseason to make a decision on Komphela’s replacement.

Chiefs are staying in Durban for now as they prepare to face Arrows on Tuesday night, with Mabedi currently expected to oversea those preparations.

The only problem with Khompela was his team selection. He built us a great team though.

what happened is not right, but the problem in South Africa is to take people for granted, Chiefs saw this coming but they refused to read between the lines and Steve was arrogant, if your team fail to convert chances what does it mean to you as a coach this has been happening the whole season

If Komphela was really the problem, then Chiefs should win their last three game's with ease. Because we r quick to point at the Coach and forgetting to look at player's poor performance

That's pointless,do you think Chiefs supporters will go to the stadiums anymore? For what exactly? We are waiting for Bobby to tell us exactly what happened,a full , honest analysis. My analysis is that he is the cause of Chiefs demise.Steve Khompela had no sufficient credentials to coach Kaizer Chiefs, his CV had nothing to show in terms of throphies unlike Pitso who won trophies with Supersport and transformed them into a formidable team,Steve failed as Bafana captain,u/23 and senior side,he qualified for top 8 with Maritzburg, avoided relegation with Stars, and it exactly what he has achieved at Chiefs for the past 3 seasons, what made him qualify to coach Chiefs?Bobby was very desperate after losing Baxter,he made a series of serious mistakes and his arrogance played a big role!
