There’s been no sign of Mogakolodi Ngele in the Premier Soccer League bio-bubble over the last few weeks, and now his agent has shed light on the players’ future.
Ngele, a Botswana international who has previously been on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and the now defunct Platinum Stars, joined Black Leopards as a free agent at the start of the 2019/20 season.
But the attacker hasn’t featured for Lidoda Duvha since the resumption of the campaign and the Siya crew has been led to believed he may very well be leaving the club with no talk yet of a contract extension.
Asked about the whereabouts of the player, Leopards general manager Tshifhiwa Thidiela confirmed that Ngele is indeed part of the squad that is currently in the bio-bubble in Gauteng, though he has not been used.
“He is part of the squad because he signed a short term contract when his initial one expired on June 30. But we will have discussions about a long term deal after we’ve played the remaining games,” Thidiela explained.
The players’ agent, Basia Michaels of QT Sports, was also coy, but did indicate that Ngele’s future may be elsewhere if the two parties can’t find common ground.
“At the moment we are all waiting to see what happens with the relegation battle that Leopards are in and once that’s settled we can then discuss a way forward,” Michaels said.
With just 12 games from all competitions this season, there are serious questions over whether Ngele would agree to stay in Limpopo, especially if he already has a suitor.
Leopards are second from bottom on the Absa Premiership table and face Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns in their final two fixtures.
