Mexican Duo Spotted After Links With Top PSL Trio
Having previously been linked with the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates, two in-demand Mexicans have been spotted at an Absa Premiership club.
Lugiani Gallardo and Diego Franco, who both played a vital role in helping to keep University of Pretoria in the National First Division this season, have long been linked with a move into the top-tier following a string of good performances, and it appears that they may now have that chance.
Gallardo, a 28-year-old attacker, and midfield man, Franco (26), have been spotted training with Highlands Park this week as they consider their futures ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, and they could well be on the verge of taking the step up into South Africa’s top-flight for next season.
The Lions of the North have already secured their survival and are pushing to try and land a top eight place on the final day of the season, and Owen da Gama looks to be eager to try and pip any other potential suitors to the Mexican pair should they impress following their arrival.
It remains to be seen whether Gallardo and Franco, who scored seven goals between them in 2018/19, have other options that they are weighing up, but it’s looking increasingly likely that they won’t be in the NFD next season.
