Downs Duo At Risk For Wits Clash, Clever Boy Out
Bidvest Wits will have to do without the services of Thabang Monare when they take on Highlands Park and two Mamelodi Sundowns stars are at risk.
Monare picked up his fourth yellow card of the season during the 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United earlier this week, meaning that he will now have to watch the clash with the Lions of the North from the stands.
The midfielder’s absence adds to Gavin Hunt’s list of problems going into the encounter, with Nazeer Allie, as well as Granwald Scott, still sidelined, and Thulani Hlatshwayo is also a doubt for the clash. Xola Mlambo is also nursing an injury.
Monare will, however, be back to face Masandawana in a game that could help decide the 2016/17 Absa Premiership title on Monday night, with the two sides doing battle at Bidvest Stadium.
Two players who may miss that game though, are Percy Tau and Khama Billiat, who both find themselves on three yellow cards for the season as they prepare to face Golden Arrows.
Given the importance of Monday’s game in Braamfontein, there could even be a chance that Tau and/or Billiat could be rested against Abafana Bes’thende, although at this point Pitso Mosimane’s side cannot afford to drop any points at all.
