AmaZulu In Talks With Former Buccaneer
AmaZulu are currently in talks with a former Orlando Pirates defender as they look to bolster their backline ahead of the business end of the Absa Premiership season.
Tshepo Gumede, who played a vital role for Cape Town City in their successful first season in the Premier Soccer League, is currently training with Usuthu as the player and Cavin Johnson looks at working together once again, with the duo having shared a strong bond during their time at Platinum Stars together.
Gumede, now 27, has been without a club since leaving the Citizens last year, but it appears that the ex-Buccaneer could well land himself a new deal in the Absa Premiership in the coming days.
AmaZulu are enjoying a solid season despite being docked six points early in their campaign, and at present are 11th in the league – just five points away from a place in the top eight.
Now, on the back of their victory over Mamelodi Sundowns last month, the Siya crew have been informed that talks between the club and Gumede are at an advanced stage, with Johnson eager to work with the central defender once again.
