A top Zambian international is expected to be among the last minute Absa Premiership deals, before the transfer window deadline at the end of this week.
Following his seven-year stay with Democratic Republic of the Congo giants TP Mazembe, Zambian defender-cum-midfielder Nathan Sinkala has left the side, and is on his way to potentially signing his first ever PSL deal.
At the back of three consecutive wins, against Highlands Park, Baroka FC and Polokwane City respectively, Stellenbosch FC look to bolster coach Steve Barker’s squad for the remainder of the campaign, by adding the experienced and highly-rated Zambian to their ranks.
The player is already in Mzansi, and expected to finalise the move to the Mother City outfit, according to sources.
Meanwhile, Mazembe have confirmed parting ways with Sinkala and wished him well in the next step of his career.
“At the end of his contract, Nathan Sinkala will not have his lease renewed. At the club since 2012, the Zambian midfielder was - for a moment - transferred to FC Sochaux in France then loaned to the Swiss of the Zurich Grasshoppers between 2014 and 2015 before returning to Lubumbashi,” Mazembe confirmed on the club’s official website.
“Nathan Sinkala, 30, is winner of the CAF Champions League in 2015, with the Ravens. He also won the two CAF Cups (2016 and 2017) as well as 4 Congo champion titles in 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2019,” the club stated.
“With Green Buffaloes, his club of origin, he was the winner of the Charity Shield in 2008. And his hour of glory with the Chipolopolo Boys, it is the coronation during CAN 2012. TPM wishes Nathan Sinkala a great success for the rest of his career and will have fond memories of the Zambian midfielder,” concluded the DRC club.
