A top Turkish coach has been spotted in Mzansi, where he was believed to be the guest of Ajax Cape Town’s Muhsin Ertugral.
The Siya crew was informed that 58-year-old Cevat Guler was present at the Absa Premiership clash between Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates. The coach was the former assistant coach and at a time, interim coach of Turkish giants, Galatasaray SK.
The Turkish-born assistant coach won the Super Lig during his time with the Turkish giants in the 2007/8 campaign, where he then went on to mentor Ravan Baku in Azerbaijan and Orduspor in Turkey. According to sources, Guler is currently a Docent at a Sport Science Institute in Istanbul.
Indications are that the coach is currently a free agent, although sources have indicated that the reason for his visit to South Africa, was because he was invited by Ajax’s Head Coach, Ertugral as a guest.
Now, it remains to be seen for how long the Turkish mentor will stay in the country or whether he might have taken an interest in football in Mzansi.
