Interest Escalates, Chiefs & Downs Joined By Wits In Midfielder Pursuit
Three PSL Clubs In Zimbabwean Midfielder Race
Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have been joined by another PSL club in their interest in a sought-after Zimbabwean midfielder.
Baroka’s Zimbabwean attacking midfielder, Talent Chawapiwa, who has emerged as one of the hottest properties in the PSL during this transfer period, could be set for a move to another club in the new season.
As reported in issue 1076 of Soccer Laduma, at least three PSL clubs are showing interest in the player’s services.
With both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns being linked to the player, Bidvest Wits have joined the Soweto giants with their interest in the 26-year-old, according to sources.
“Sundowns is interested (in) Talent. Chiefs is interested in the player. Wits is keen on the boy. All three clubs are looking at the possibility to sign the player. The boy is currently involved in the COSAFA Cup (with the Zimbabwe senior national team). Expect something to happen after the COSAFA Cup tournament regarding a potential move for the player. Talent is a good player. He has done well in his first season in the PSL. I can tell you now that the boy has been approached directly by some of the clubs and enquiries on his availability have been made directly to him,” said the source.
Chawapiwa joined Baroka from FC Platinum in his native Zimbabwe last year. The player’s agent Michael Ngobeni has distanced himself from reports linking Chawapiwa with the three clubs.
The player’s contract with Baroka club runs until June 2020.
