Transfer Watch: Three PSL Teams Monitor Bafana Defender
Three PSL Clubs Are Believed To Be Monitoring Taariq Fielies
There are three clubs in South Africa’s top-flight that is believed to be monitoring one of Cape Town City’s key defenders.
Robyn Johannes will complete his move to Bidvest Wits at the end of the season, after putting pen to paper on a pre-contract with the club in January this year.
However, it seems that the Students are not done shopping for defenders and seemed to have shown much interest in the Citizen’s back line.
According to sources, Wits are also keeping a close eye on Taariq Fielies, the 25-year-old centre back who, alongside Johannes, has been instrumental to Benni McCarthy’s defence this season.
However, Wits are not the only club interested in Fielies. Sources have added that both SuperSport United and Highlands Park are monitoring the defender.
Fielies is still contracted to the Mother City-based club and any interested suitor will have to approach City in the upcoming transfer window should they be interested in luring the player to their camp.
In other news, as reported by the Siya crew this week, City is set to also make a decision about their centre back Tshepo Gumede, who has an added one-year option set in place on his deal.
City have been linked to several defenders such as the likes of Lorenzo Gordinho and Wayne Arendse and it remains to be seen whether the Mother City-based club will be looking to strengthen their defence following Johannes’ departure.
