Khama Billiat may have played his last game for Mamelodi Sundowns last night, with a decision about his immediate future yet to be made.
Sundowns played to a 2-2 draw against Horoya AC in the CAF Champions League yesterday, May 22, with it having being possibly the last time that Billiat will be seen in the Ka Bo Yellow colours.
The Zimbabwean will see his contract with Sundowns come to an end on June 30, this year, this before Masandawana resume their CAF Champions League campaign in July.
Billiat has been linked with a number of clubs in the past months, with Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits all believed to be keen on the player’s services.
However, while local interest in the player is expected to escalate in these final weeks, the 27-year-old has also been linked with clubs abroad.
The Siya crew reported earlier this year that Azerbaijani-outfit, Qarabag FK were looking to secure Billiat’s signature on a pre-contract, however, it was subsequently added that the deal may have fallen through, with sources indicating that the player’s camp may still be open to the possibility of the Zimbabwean remaining at Sundowns beyond the current season.
However, with weeks to go before June 30, there has been no official confirmation about where Billiat will be playing his professional football next season.
Contacted for comment, the Sundowns communications department was not available for comment at the time, although the Siya crew will continue to keep you updated.
