Following his departure from Orlando Pirates, Thamsanqa Sangweni has arrived at Chippa United to begin training with the team to mark his return to the club.
Sangweni has parted ways with Bucs after only one season with the side, with the midfielder having now completed his return to the Chilli Boys, as confirmed by the Soweto giants last week.
While Chippa have also confirmed Sangweni’s return, it had also been announced that the club would also add Thabo Matlaba and Bernard Morrison from Pirates.
With the Port Elizabeth club having announced the new signings last week, the players were set to join the team on Wednesday after their pre-season camp in Johannesburg.
However, sources close to Chippa have since confirmed to the Siya crew that of the three players, only Sangweni has joined up with Dan Malesela’s squad, as he attended their Wednesday afternoon training session at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
It is believed that Chippa has since given up on landing both Matlaba and Morrison during the current transfer window.
As reported yesterday (Wednesday), Morrison has described his proposed move to Chippa as ‘fake news’, while Matlaba’s agent, Abbie Rasimphi distanced himself from reports linking the utility player with an exit from Pirates by saying that the Soweto giants should be the ones confirming any movement for the player.
