A midfield star is facing uncertain future ahead of the 2021/22 season after failing to reach an agreement with his club over a new contract.
Having returned to Mzansi at the beginning of the year from a spell in Eswatini with Mbabane Highlanders, Thamsanqa Sangweni re-joined Chippa United in February to revive his career in the DStv Premiership.
With the short-term contract he signed having expired at the end of June, the 32-year-old Dondotha-born player has been in negotiations with the Eastern Cape club over a new deal.
However, the Siya crew has learnt that negotiations between the parties have broken down, with the player now set to officially begin his search for a new club.
“Thamsanqa Sangweni is on his way out of Chippa United. Contract negotiations between him and the club have failed to yield positive results and he is now in search of a new club,” said the source.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali is back at the Chilli Boys for their pre-season after it initially appeared as if he would be leaving the club.
Following the Gqeberha-based club’s unsuccessful attempt in adding former Black Leopards goalkeeper King Ndlovu to their roster, who has since signed for Marumo Gallants, Mtshali has been re-called to join the team’s training under coach Gavin Hunt.
