Former Orlando Pirates midfielder, Thamsanqa Sangweni, has completed his return to Mzansi after securing a top-flight deal.
Having finished last year playing for Mbabane Highlanders in Eswatini Premier League, Sangweni decided to return home this year to further his career, and after training briefly with Chippa United, the 31-year-old was signed by the Eastern Cape club.
“Thamsanqa Sangweni has signed for Chippa United. It’s a done deal and he has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract,” said the source.
As reported by the Siya crew, the Chilli Boys are also linked with former Highlands Park defender Jerry Msane, who has been plying trade in the GladAfrica Championship with Cape Town All Stars.
Chippa United beat Free State Stars 4-3 on penalties to secure a spot in Round of 16 of the Nedbank Cup. This was Chippa's first home game since the side opted to play all its matches away from home after Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality was declared a Covid-19 hostspot.
