Orlando Pirates striker Thamsanqa Gabuza has reportedly turned down an opportunity to resurrect his career elsewhere this season.
As reported in the latest Soccer Laduma, edition 1085, the 31-year-old who has been struggling for enough game time in recent months is said to have turned down a move to Free State Stars during the current July/August transfer window.
“Thamsanqa Gabuza has been one of the players Free State Stars had been interested in. But the player wasn’t keen on entertaining any talks of him going to the Free State.
He could have interest in a move to Golden Arrows or AmaZulu but not Free State Stars, as he wants to be close to home,” said the source.
Gabuza was not included in Bucs’ 18-man match day squad for their opening match of the season against Highlands Park on the weekend.
According to Siya sources in the know, the forward had been one of the players targeted by Ea Lla Koto in aim of bolstering Luc Eymael’s team, but is said to have turned down an opportunity to relocate to the Free State in favour of fighting for his place in Bucs’ squad in his sixth season with the Soweto giants since joining the club in 2013 from Golden Arrows.
