Cape Town City escalated their interest in acquiring the signing of one of the biggest names in South African football.
Teko ‘The General’ Modise parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns last week after the two parties decided that it was time for the 34-year-old to move on from the Chloorkop-based club.
The Siya crew subsequently revealed earlier this week that sources have spotted Modise in the Mother City in the company of City head coach, Benni McCarthy and the player’s representative.
Now, Siya sources have since informed Soccer Laduma that the 2016 Telkom Knockout champions and the 34-year-old are in the advanced stage of negotiating a deal to bring Modise on board, however, nothing has been confirmed by either party as yet.
City already added Bafana Bafana international, Ayanda Patosi, Mozambican, João Pedro Mussica and Lyle Lakay from Bloemfontein Celtic.
Indications are that the club is set to make an announcement about their fourth signing in the coming days, as Head Coach McCarthy looks to bolster his squad ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
