Tau’s Brighton Deal Still On?
The 24-hour deadline for Brighton & Hove Albion’s offer has already passed, and it now remains up in the air regarding whether Mamelodi Sundowns’ Percy Tau will get his move or not.
Tau, 24, has not been training with Masandawana over the course of their preseason so far as he reportedly pushes for a move to the English Premier League side, and matters may be forced to come to a head in the coming weeks.
While there is still plenty of time between now and the end of the transfer window, Brighton may not be keen to hang around for Tau’s signature, especially given the fact that there would still be plenty of paperwork to do even if a transfer agreement is reached.
According to reports, an offer in the region of R50 million had been tabled for the Bafana Bafana international, and there have been suggestions that – even though the deadline has passed – the deal is not yet dead in the water.
Tau is still contracted to Sundowns and therefore has an obligation to attend training, and with a new week now upon us there have been suggestions that he could potentially return for preseason at some point in the coming days.
One issue for Tau and his move could be the difficulties surrounding a work permit, and there is a chance he may be sent out on loan.
The Siya crew will continue to monitor Tau’s situation as things progress, however there is no doubt now that all of the involved parties would like to see an end to the stand off as the start of the 2018/19 campaign draws closer.
