Swallows are expected to announce a new sponsor that could give them financial muscle and staying power in SA’s top-flight.
The Siya crew has been informed that the Dube Birds are lining up Telkom as one of their backers having gone for some time now without a partnership of this nature despite the club’s rich history and heritage.
But when contacted for comment, chairman David Mogashoa was mum on an announcement only expected to be made later this week.
“I won’t say anything now, all I can say is that I will see you on Thursday at the press conference,” the Swallows boss responded.
On Monday, the Siya crew received an invitation from a PR agency requesting our presence at an “exclusive sponsorship announcement”.
It’s understood Telkom could very well be unveiled as the new sponsor for the Dube Birds, a team that looks set to finish in the Top 8 bracket during their first year back in the Premiership following their relegation in 2015.
Remarkably, even after their decline and near demise, Swallows were still able to hold on to kit sponsors PUMA, though the current team was birthed as a result of the lower division status of Maccabi FC in 2019 and were promoted a year later.
Telkom, meanwhile, ended its relationship with the Premier Soccer League, hence there is no edition of the Telkom Knockout this season.
