With coach Dylan Kerr’s resurgent Swallows side taking shape, the Birds are understood to be closing in on a new signing who is currently out of contract.
According to Siya sources, the Dube Birds are in talks with Ovidy Karuru, who became the latest player to join the Birds’ nest, with a deal now imminent.
The former Black Leopards, Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder was a shock departure from Black Leopards in July last year despite being an integral part of Lidoda Duvha’s season.
But with the Zimbabwean having spent the last few weeks training with Swallows, he has now emerged as a potential new addition for the Birds, who currently sit in the relegation zone in 14th place on the table, just one point ahead of bottom dwellers Baroka FC and TS Galaxy.
Karuru can join the club immediately, given that he is unattached after he was handed his clearance by Leopards after parting ways with the club.
The 32-year-old is a familiar face with coach Dylan Kerr, with the two having previously worked together at Leopards and with his bags of experience, Karuru might just be the man to help spark Swallows’ turnaround in fortunes.
