Time To Move On For SuperSport Striker?
SuperSport United’s ambitions of challenging for the Absa Premiership title were dashed this month, and there could be several changes at the club in the coming months.
Matsatsantsa had been making a late surge towards to top end of the league table until they were beaten 2-0 by AmaZulu recently, and the 1-1 draw with Bidvest Wits last week means that they only really have only a CAF Confederation Cup spot to play for having already secured a place in the top eight.
James Keene, who came on board for SuperSport at the start of the season, has played 28 games for the club over the course of the 2018/19 season in all competitions, but as things stand has not extended his deal at the club beyond the course of this campaign.
The 33-year-old forward does have a one-year option installed in his contract with his current employers, although at this point in time it remains to be seen whether that will be exercised or whether the player wishes to stay at the club for the 2019/20 season.
Keene has scored around 20 goals since moving to South Africa, first to Bidvest Wits, from Europe, and it may be that he is now on the lookout for the next chapter in his career – outside or inside Mzansi’s borders.
