Stellenbosch Keen To Land AmaZulu Stopper
Stellenbosch Want AmaZulu's Sage Stephens
National First Division outfit, Stellenbosch, is keen to try and sign AmaZulu goalkeeper, Sage Stephens before the 2017/18 PSL season gets underway.
The 26-year-old shot-stopper played 17 games for Usuthu last season as they came up short in the NFD in their push for promotion, however, the club has now taken the step up into the top-flight after purchasing Thanda Royal Zulu’s status.
With the purchase of Boalefa Pule from SuperSport United, Stephens is going to find it difficult to break into the first team this season and Steve Barker is believed to have earmarked him as somebody who can aid their attempts at promotion in the new season.
Stephens has been with AmaZulu since leaving Moroka Swallows in 2015 and with one year left on his contract at the club, it may prove difficult for Stellenbosch to stump up a transfer fee for his services if his current club requires one.
The Siya crew will continue to monitor Stephens’ situation in the coming months to see if he can negotiate a move away from Durban or not.
