Mamelodi Sundowns’ Khama Billiat is being monitored by Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, among other clubs interested in his services.
As reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, the Soweto giants are believed to be leading the race to land Billiat’s signature.
Billiat, who was instrumental for Downs in their 4-0 win over Baroka FC on Tuesday evening, is expected to leave Chloorkop either in January or at the end of the season.
The Zimbabwean will officially be entering into the last six months of his deal with Downs in January.
The player’s contract with Downs will expire in June 2018 and in January, Billiat will be eligible to sign a pre-contract with any other club.
The 27-year-old could leave Downs on a free at the end of this campaign. With the star midfielder being strongly linked with a move away from the Chloorkop-based club and attracting interest from local PSL and overseas clubs, the indication from sources in the know is that Chiefs and Pirates have emerged as strong candidates in pursuing his signature.
The Brazilians have seemingly given up on having Billiat in their team beyond the 2017/18 season. The club’s head coach Pitso Mosimane has stated countless times in the media that Billiat will be leaving the club.
Most recently, Billiat has been linked with Egyptian giants Zamalek and Cape Town City, although it is now believed that Amakhosi and Bucs are also in the race for his services, as reported in edition 1052 of Soccer Laduma.
