A South African footballer has secured a move abroad as he looks to further his career in the 2021/22 season.
After being part of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search project in 2019, Sello Omecious Ngoetjana secured a professional contract with Oman First Division outfit Nizwa Club.
Ngoetjana is a product of Varsity Football and played for Tshwane University of Technology alongside Vusi Sibiya who is now with Baroka and Chippa United’s Thabiso Lebitso, among other players.
The 24-year-old midfielder’s deal was facilitated by his representatives Baggio Collen and Kea Mahlabe.
“After he was initially invited for a two-week assessment by Al-Rustaq which is campaigning in the Premier League in Oman, Sello Omecious Ngoetjana could not be signed due to foreign quota issues. We made other contingency plans for him to move to Nizwa Club for trial. I can safely say that with his pedigree and exploits on the field, the team’s coaching staff was impressed after giving him a full 90 minutes in a friendly match against Bahla Club on his second day at the club. They wanted to look at him closely to see what qualities he possesses, and they then offered him a contract. He is part of the squad that will be campaigning in the Oman First Division campaign for the 2021/22 season with a view of gaining promotion to the elite league,” confirmed the representatives.
“Sello can be best remembered as a participant in the Ke Yona Team Search project although he never made the final squad that played the exhibition match against TS Galaxy in 2019 due to injury that ruled him out of a possible spot in the final squad. We are pleased with the progress, and such can only unlock doors for many other South African players to move into the Middle East/Gulf Region areas for football opportunities,” the representatives added.
