The Siya crew can confirm that former Martizburg United midfielder Sheldon Van Wyk is in search for a new club after failing to return to the Team of Choice.
The 26-year-old attacker signed for Maritzburg back in 2014 from ABC Motsepe League side Diphiri FC. Sources close to the player have confirmed that Van Wyk wants an exit from the Team of Choice and has struggled with game-time in the previous campaign.
“He is looking for regular game-time but I can confirm that he has left Maritzburg United,” said a source close to the player.
“Though it seems that several clubs have shown interest, no formal approaches have been made and nothing has been finalised as yet,” added the source.
Meanwhile, Van Wyk only made nine league appearances in the previous season. With former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Keagan Buchanan likely to join the Team of Choice, it is understood that this was one of the reasons which led to the departure of Van Wyk.
