The Dutch coach was linked with Kaizer Chiefs last season, while Steve Komphela was still at the helm. At the time the Siya crew was informed that the former Orlando Pirates coach’s CV was submitted to the club.

Now with the Giovanni Solinas on thin ice and with the club, reportedly, assessing their options, Krol was asked if he would return to the PSL and if he had spoken to Chiefs or any other teams in the PSL.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma radio this week, Krol explained, “No…no…I have spoken in the last year only with SuperSport (United) to come back to the PSL. We could not find an agreement. South Africa will always have a special place in my heart. I will always be open to come back to the country. I had tremendous time there.”

The 69-year-old remains highly admired in Mzansi and regarded as one of the top foreign coaches to have ever contributed to the PSL’s success for the role he played as the head of Orlando Pirates between 2008 and 2011.

During the three seasons he was Bucs’ coach, Krol guided the Soweto giants to win the PSL title, MTN8 and Nedbank Cup, during the club's years of success with the back-to-back trebles they won.

The coach has had more to talk about as he shared his football knowledge with Soccer Laduma radio listeners. To listen to the full interview, click on the radio podcast here
