DStv Premiership newbies Royal AM could miss out on their preferred coaching target, who has reportedly garnered interest from North Africa.
As reported in edition 1240 of Soccer Laduma, former Orlando Pirates head coach Ruud Krol has landed on the radar of the KZN outfit as a potential replacement for John Maduka, who has endured a rocky start to the 2021/22 campaign.
Maduka lost his first two matches against Swallows FC and Cape Town City respectively, which has seen the Malawian’s future at the club come under the spotlight.
However, with Maduka getting his first win against Chippa United last week, the Siya crew has been informed that Royal AM have dragged their feet in negotiations with the experienced Dutch mentor, which could see them lose out on his services.
News reaching the crew’s desk is that Pyramids in Egypt have also expressed an interest in Krol, as has the Namibian national team. According to the coach’s South African representative Gerald Baloyi of Vodia Sports Management, the 72-year-old is in demand.
“There are currently discussions with a few teams who are interested in the coach,” Baloyi told the Siya crew.
Krol, who is currently back in his native Netherlands has been out of a job since parting ways with CS Sfaxien in 2019.
