A return to the topflight of South African football is in the works for former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sibusiso Kumalo.
As reported in edition 1173 of Soccer Laduma, the midfielder has attracted interest from Stellenbosch FC, according to sources.
Kumalo, 29, is eyeing a return to the Absa Premiership in the new season after parting ways with Sundowns in September last year, when his contract with the club was terminated.
The Katlehong-born player had been on Sundowns’ books from 2013, having joined the club from Moroka Swallows as one of Mzansi’s most promising talents, but failed to make progress at the Chloorkop club due to lack of game time.
“Stellenbosch showed an interest in Sibusiso Kumalo. There’s a possibility that the club might revisit their interest at the end of the season,” said the source.
Kumalo spent time training with Highlands Park after parting ways with Sundowns, although the Lions of the North decided against offering him a deal.
