The Siya crew has been informed that an attempt from a Premier Soccer League club to lure a coach from a rival outfit, has been shot down.
According to a reliable insider at Free State Stars, the Bethlehem-based outfit has rejected advances from Marumo Gallants to poach Duncan Lechesa as a potential replacement for Frenchman Sebastien Migné.
Gallants confirmed two weeks ago that Migné had been relieved of his duties because his abusive language towards technical director Harris Choeu – and the Siya crew was immediately informed that Lechesa, Dan Malesela and Owen da Gama had emerged as candidates for the now vacant job at the DStv Premiership side.
Indications are that an attempt to persuade Lechesa to leave Stars in the GladAfrica Championship has been unsuccessful after Gallants were informed Ea Lla Koto have no intentions of letting their head coach go.
Stars are currently in ninth place on the log standings and aiming for promotion to the topflight this time around having missed out of getting into the play-offs last season.
Lechesa is the man tasked with the mammoth task.
“There was an approach made for Duncan to consider the Gallants job, but their request was denied by the club,” confirmed a source close to developments at Stars.
It now remains to be seen who the Limpopo outfit, who host high flying Royal AM in a league match on Tuesday, will offer the job to in the coming days.
