A Zimbabwean midfielder is being linked with a January move to the PSL, with a possibe move to Cape Town on the cards.
Following the progress he has made with his performances for FC Platinum in Zimbabwe, Gerald Takwara has been linked with a move to South Africa’s top tier. According to reports, Ajax Cape Town is one of the clubs interested in the player. Media reports in Zimbabwe have indicated that the Urban Warriors have considered signing the defensive midfielder.
Takwara has had a trial with Ajax in the past and was previously linked with Highlands Park in the NFD.
The 23-year-old caught the attention of clubs with his performances for the Zimbabwe national team when they won the COSAFA Cup played in South Africa earlier this year.
Takwara is a midfield strongman in the mould of Kaizer Chiefs' Willard Katsande, who first arrived in Mzansi to join Ajax. It was after spotting him play in Zimbabwe that in 2010 Ajax signed Katsande on a three-year contract to join countryman Khama Billiat, among other players, at the Mother City club at the time.
Katsande went on to join Chiefs in 2011, where he has been one of the top and most consistent performers over the years.
Ajax are believed to be keen on adding Takwara to their roster with a view of improving their Absa Premiership campaign, which has been disappointing so far due to inconsistent results by the team.
