A big decision is expected to be made regarding the future of one of the long-serving players in Mzansi’s topflight as clubs are making adjustments to their squads.
Having turned 38 this year, Jabulani ‘Mavotja’ Maluleke is expected to hear from Polokwane City about his future and in line with the club’s plans for the remainder of the 2019/20 season and beyond.
Maluleke’s existing deal expired on Tuesday, though there has been talk that he could be playing for at least one more season.
Indications are that Maluleke could have his spell at the Limpopo club extended, despite having his age against him, as reported in edition 1180 of Soccer Laduma.
Having joined Rise and Shine in 2014, after parting ways with SuperSport United, Maluleke has been influential in guiding the younger players in the team with his experience and influence as their captain.
In one of the recent achievements, the Chiawelo-born player helped Rise and Shine to finish fifth on the Absa Premiership log – which was the record best finish for the side in their history – under Slovakian coach Jozef Vukusic at the end of the 2018/19 season.
So far this season, Maluleke has started in 18 of the 24 league matches played by Polokwane.
