An update has been provided on a potential destination for Hendrick ‘Pule’ Ekstein in his search for a new club.
In what was a surprise move in December, Ekstein returned to South Africa after his contract with Azerbaijani side, Sabah FC was terminated.
The 29-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs player had been one of the influential players in the team, and playing regularly with four assists and three goals from 16 appearances for the team in all competitions.
Recent reports in local media have linked Ekstein with Orlando Pirates, while Cape Town City was said to have also showed an interest.
However, the Bekkersdal-born player’s priority has been to return to Europe to further his career, and according to the Azerbaijani Premier League Twitter account, the midfield ace is set to join a club there, despite very little details given on the issue.
“Hendrick "Pule" Ekstein returns to the Azerbaijan Premier League. Which team will he play (for) this time?” they quizzed.
