Mosimane To Bolster Squad With Bafana Keeper?
Pitso Mosimane To Bolster Mamelodi Sundowns Squad With Bafana Keeper?
“It’s not surprising, (that) there are a few clubs watching him. He is one of the top goalkeepers in South Africa,” Brandon Petersen’s representative told the Siya crew.
Petersen is close to entering into the last 12 months of his contract with Ajax Cape Town, and the Siya crew revealed in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that the Absa Premiership champions are keen on adding the player to their roster.
According to sources, Coach Pitso Mosimane has identified the 23-year-old as a transfer target, while it has been revealed that Downs have made informal enquiries into the goalkeeper’s availability.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Petersen’s representative, Lance Davids, did indeed confirm the interest though would not go into the details. He admitted that he is not surprised by the interest but stated the player is focussed on his current club.
He added, “Yes, there are several clubs that are interested in Brandon (Petersen), but I don’t want to talk about that. He is an Ajax Cape Town player. He has got one more year left on his contract and he is happy to honour it.
“What is surprising to me is that he has been on the bench, even after the Bafana (Bafana) call-up. But it’s fine, Brandon understands the situation and, as an Ajax player, he is fully committed to the team. They’re playing against (Kaizer) Chiefs this weekend and he’s looking forward to it.”
Ajax face Kaizer Chiefs in their final league game of the season as they push to avoid the PSL promotional play-offs, and it remains to be seen if Coach Muhsin Ertugral will call on the keeper in what will be one of their biggest games of the season.
