“We will fetch the trophy. We know the address. It’s just off the highway,” Pitso Mosimane said last year, after Bidvest Wits were crowned Absa Premiership champions.
After ending the 2016/17 campaign just three points behind last season’s champions, Mamelodi Sundowns’ head coach, Mosimane was confident that his side will be fetching the title from their rivals in Braamfontein.
Now, with Sundowns seated at the top with a four point lead, they will be dealt a massive test to take on and claim maximum points from last season’s champions, edging much closer to the title-deciding day.
Masandawana will host the Clever Boys on Saturday, April 14, coming up against Gavin Hunt’s men who are eager to regain and maintain their position in the top eight of the league standings.
However, on the other side of things, the gap between Sundowns and Orlando Pirates at second place may or may not change this evening, when the Buccaneers face SuperSport United, with the Soweto giants also eager to collect maximum points and put the Brazilians under pressure at the top.
Head Coach Mosimane will be pleased with having five days to prepare for their encounter against Wits while keeping an eye on their rivals.
At this moment, Mosimane has his full squad at his disposal, besides the likes of Rivaldo Coetzee and Cuthbert Malajila who has been out for quite some time now.
