Orlando Pirates have set their sights on one of the most exciting midfielders to emerge in the PSL as a transfer target, the Siya crew has been informed.
He has only played 10 games in his maiden season in the topflight since being promoted to the Chippa United first team – but Azola Matrose is already attracting interest from one of the biggest clubs in the country.
The teenager, who joined the Chilli Boys in July last season, has been one of the standout players for coach Kurt Lentjies’ squad this campaign, despite being predominantly used as a substitute.

Matrose has made 10 appearances for Chippa this season, seven of those coming as a sub.
Sources close to Chippa management have indicated to the Siya crew that the left-footed attacker is being monitored by the Buccaneers with a view of adding him to the Sea Robbers’ squad next season.
Matrose really got football loving fans talking when he put on a dazzling display against Kaizer Chiefs in Chippa’s 3-1 loss to Amakhosi and followed that up with a goal against SuperSport United, which led to calls from his coach to protect him at all costs.
“I am very happy for him, but then as a club and as players we have a huge task to protect him. We cannot expect fireworks from him in every single game. We need to play him at the correct times. But it is up to him. He needs to keep training hard; we can’t think after one performance that we have found the next Messi or Ronaldo. He needs to perform consistently, be consistent in training as well,” Lentjies told the media last month.
The Walmer Township-born player also recently had a chance to showcase his talents in the match against Pirates where he came on as a second half substitute for Andile Mbenyane.
