Orlando Pirates are still keen on further strengthening their squad with a midfielder from Bidvest Wits.
As reported in edition 1060 of Soccer Laduma, The Buccaneers are believed to be in an advanced stage of negotiations in their pursuit of Wits’ Ben Motshwari.
Bucs tried without success in landing the central midfielder in January. After Pirates were only able to sign Xola Mlambo from the Students in January, the Soweto giants are believed to be trying for Motshwari’s signature at the moment, with a view to signing the player at the end of the season.
Motshwari has been on Pirates’ radar for some time. According to sources, the player seems to be close to agreeing to a deal.
“There is huge interest from Pirates in Ben Motshwari. It’s something that has been discussed over and over again. The deal is likely to happen at the end of the season,” said the source.
The player is believed to be unhappy with his lack of regular game-time at Wits. Motshwari, 26, will see his contract with Wits come to an end in June 2019.
He could be involved in a proposed deal for Abbubaker Mobara from Bucs to Wits, which could be discussed again at the end of the season.
