Bucs Unlikely To Land Tyson?
Pirates In Unlikely Situation For Hlatshwayo
Orlando Pirates are unlikely to land their target, Thulani Hlatshwayo, during the current transfer window.
As reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, issue 1057, Hlatshwayo is likely to stay with Bidvest Wits for the remainder of the season.
The defender has been heavily linked with a move to Pirates and the Buccaneers have identified the experienced player as a transfer target for Coach Milutin Sredojevic’s team for the last half of the 2017/18 Absa Premiership season and beyond.
Although Pirates are believed to have kept their interest in the player, with sources informing the Siya crew that the move could still happen during the current transfer window, indications are that Wits are adamant in holding onto their captain.
As the captain of Wits, Hlatshwayo is seen as an influential player for Coach Gavin Hunt’s team that is attempting to move away from the bottom half of the PSL log.
The 28-year-old Bafana Bafana international is the team leader and, with Buhle Mkhwanazi now playing regularly in Hunt’s team, since recovering from injury, Wits are looking at all of their top players to help the club pick up results to improve their position on the PSL log for the remaining matches.
Hlatshwayo will see his contract with Wits end in 18 months’ time and according to Siya sources, the Students are preparing to offer the player a new and improved contract that will see him at the club beyond the 2018/19 campaign.
While Pirates are still interested in the player and expected to continue monitoring the situation with him at the Sturrock Park outfit, a move for ‘Tyson’ in the current window is unlikely.
