Chippa United have handed an Orlando Pirates development player product a trial with their team under Coach Teboho Moloi and his technical team.
Chuma Lali is a 21-year-old midfielder from Cape Town, who is currently training with Chippa. The player has been at the development teams of Bidvest Wits and Pirates among other clubs, where his football skills were being honed in recent years.
Chippa invited him for a trial with the team under Moloi, who is a former Pirates player himself, as well as the club’s assistant coach over recent years.
“Chuma Lali is a product of the development teams of Orlando Pirates and Wits. He was discovered by Augusto Palacios, who got him from Cape Town to Pirates. The boy has started training with Chippa United. He is hoping to impress and to be signed by the club,” said the source.
Lali came through the junior ranks of clubs in Cape Town where he played alongside the likes of his close friend Mihlali Mayambela, as well as Andisiwe Mtsila, among others.
With Mayambela and Mtsila having gone on to sign for Djurgardens IF in Sweden and Kaizer Chiefs respectively, Lali is eyeing his big break with the Chilli Boys in the PSL.
The Siya crew will keep you posted regarding the player’s trial with the Port Elizabeth outfit over the next few days or weeks.
