Wits Duo Sent To U19s?
Phumlani Ntshangase & Thobani Mncwango Aren't With Bidvest Wits' First Team
Word reaching the Siya crew is that two of Bidvest Wits’ senior players have been sent to train with the club’s U19s as they don’t appear to be in Gavin Hunt’s plans.
Phumlani Ntshangase and Thobani Mncwango battled for game-time under Gavin Hunt last season as they played 13 and two Absa Premiership games respectively, and it looks as though they will also have a tough time breaking in in 2018/19.
Siya sources have spotted the duo training with the club’s U19s rather than the first team as Hunt prepares his side for the upcoming campaign, although the reasons as to why they are not with the senior squad remain unknown at this point in time.
Wits were contacted for comment on the matter, although they denied that it was the case, insisting that they were not with the youth side.
The Clever Boys have already signed the likes of Simon Murray, Vuyo Mere and Haashim Domingo in the build-up to their clash with Free State Stars this weekend, however, they may not be done bolstering their squad just yet.
Hunt is looking for his side to bounce back from a tough 2017/18 season in the league and will be keen to get off to a good start in the Absa Premiership after they failed to qualify for this year’s MTN8 tournament.
