An outgoing Cape Town City striker is attracting interest locally and abroad, according to sources in the know.
Following his six-month spell with the Citizens, having joined the club from Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (now Marumo Gallants) in January, the Zambian international is set to move to a new club again in preparation of the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old struggled in front of goal for the Mother City outfit as he failed to score in 12 appearances – five starts and eight substitute appearances, in the team’s DStv Premiership campaign.
The former Orlando Pirates man also failed to score in the only match he featured in, during the Nedbank Cup.
Indications are that the club has decided against keeping the attacker, and who is believed to have been deemed surplus to requirements for Eric Tinkler’s team.
Shonga scored three goals for Zambia in the COSAFA Cup in the Eastern Cape, and according to a close source, the player has attracted interest from an unnamed PSL outfit and two overseas clubs.
During his time with Pirates, Shonga was linked to Portuguese club CS Maritimo, although he ended up signing for TTM last year.
