Orlando Pirates have shown interest in Polokwane City’s Jabulani Maluleke, according to sources.
The Buccaneers are believed to have been impressed with the midfielder’s progress at Rise and Shine.
Despite the player’s age, Bucs are believed to have shown an interest in bringing him on board, according to Siya sources.
In line with the team’s plan going forward, Siya sources have indicated that Maluleke’s name has been among those bandied about as potential signings for Bucs.
The central midfielder is one of the players with the most assists in the PSL, clearly indicating his value in the middle of the park.
“Orlando Pirates have been monitoring Jabulani Maluleke with interest. The club is impressed with the player’s high work rate and progress at Polokwane City. Maluleke is one of the best players in the league at the moment,” said the source.
However, Maluleke’s age could count against him, as the Chiawelo-born player will be turning 36 in March.
As reported in the latest Soccer Laduma, issue 1058, with Maluleke’s contract with Polokwane expiring in June, Pirates could step in and offer him a short-term deal, with a view of adding experience to Milutin Sredojevic’s team.
