Bucs Still To Decide On Zimbabwean Midfielder

Orlando Pirates to decide on Marshall Munetsi future

By Soccer Laduma - May 17, 2018 02:52 PM

With the transfer window approaching, Orlando Pirates are yet to confirm if one of their international starlets will remain at the club for pre-season preparations.

Zimbabwean midfielder, Marshall Munetsi has enjoyed his most successful season with the Buccaneers since signing with the club. The towering midfielder has made seven league starts and 12 league appearances under Milutin Sredojević where he has shown his immense talents that led to Pirates snapping him up from Ubuntu Cape Town.

Following a loan spell at Baroka FC in the previous season, Munetsi was recalled by Pirates ahead of this season where he has featured in seven games.

“He is a talent and definitely one for the future. The team wants to ensure that he stays playing because he is quality,” revealed a Siya source.

“The club still needs to decide whether he will get the sufficient game time or perhaps another loan deal could be a viable option,” added the source.

Munetsi has provided cover for the likes of Mpho Makola in midfield. The hurling midfielder who is often compared to Yaya Toure has already surpassed the likes of Issa Sarr and Thamsanqa Gabuza when it comes to league appearances.

Should Pirates decide to keep the 21-year-old in Parktown for the new season, then that would be an indication of the potential exit of players such as Sarr and Sangweni, who are rumoured to leave the club due to a lack of game-time.

@Bambambigelow, & @Ruud-Krol(Mugabe) ,,, Maybe u haven't read about what he said about not marking anymore. We really do not need players who do not do defensive work or pre-madonnas. We have a lot of youngsters at OPFC who look up to Jali and I'm afraid he will influence them negatively. Our style of play under Micho is different now, Jali excelled when he was partnered with Manyisa (they complimented each other). There's no Manyisa now. One can be a good and performing employee but if u are a drunk and unruly, no employer will hire u. That's Jali for u.

@TBS a drunk Jali is way better than a sober Katsande Munetsi, Munetsi is just an average player who makes rough tackles all over the place.

@Bambambigelow ,,, Nah, Jali is big headed and has a drinking problem. He will destabilize what we've already built. We don't need him, he is not leading by example. He must go elsewhere :))
