Sangweni's Options... Should He Leave Pirates?

Orlando Pirates Midfielder Linked With Exit

An out of favour Orlando Pirates midfielder could consider joining another team to revive his career.

With the 2017/18 season nearing an end, it continues to be a struggle for Thamsanqa Sangweni to get game-time at Pirates.

As reported in edition 1063 of Soccer Laduma, Bidvest Wits could re-visit their interest in the player at the end of the season, according to sources.

Despite being seen as a marquee signing when he joined Pirates last year, Sangweni is completely out of the picture at the club.

The midfielder last played an official match for Milutin Sredojevic’s team in December. Wits showed interest in the player last year, as he trained with the Sturrock Park outfit prior to signing with Bucs.

With the Buccaneers having been linked with the likes of Ben Motshwari, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Phumlani Ntshangase from Wits, and with the Students known to be keen on Abbubaker Mobara, Sangweni could be used in a swap deal for players between the two clubs.

The central midfielder is contracted to Pirates, having signed a three-year deal when he joined the club last July.

As reported in the latest Soccer Laduma, another option for the player would be considering a move back to Chippa United, where he enjoyed some best football of his career in recent years.

Golden Arrows are believed to be monitoring the situation of the Empangeni-born player.

Any team want Sangweni must put money on the table, remember he signed 3 years contract with bucs or else go look the free agents players somewhere not at bucs. We don't sell players for free.

It is not surprising that Sangweni and Chabalala do not fit in Pirates Coaches style of play, selling them is a good move, Gabuza's contract should be terminated i don't see him getting game time ahead of Shonga, Mulenga, Morrison, Lorch, Memela, Foster and Nkosi in short all the attacking players at Pirates.

Coaches can build and destroy players, and this is a trend where coaches have their own preferred players regardless of the quality. There is a lot of talent in the PSL but that is under utelised by coaches.

SL is exaggerating things this boy has been injured most of the time at Pirates during that, there are players who performs well and be taken out of the team. Sangweni must just work more harder his chance will come our coaches are good at giving chances to any player

Despite going down to arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby last weekend, which saw them fall eight points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, there is still a sense of belief in Zebras dressing room that the race is not all lost as yet
